How we get our news is filtered. It's filtered through the media, our friends, our social networks and what we can see happening right in front of us. Now, more than ever, media and the resources behind it are less motivated to give us an objective point of view but rather to tell us what they believe will generate an emotional response. Sometimes at the expense of actually telling us what's going on. They do this because the more enraged or irrational we are, the more we consume, the more we engage and ultimately the more money they make. In America this dichotomy is essentially unchecked. As citizens, it's critical we recognize what is objective vs. what is designed to get a rise out of us. When we can differentiate between the two, then we can see what is really happening.
